Housing in Tavira
Bárbara Delgado

The project benefits from the place’s potential, reinforcing its value with the creation of a new typology of marked public character, which is defined by: integration in the local architectural tradition, adjustment of the buildings adapting them to the topography; the creation of a semi-enclosed block with terraced buildings; the definition of a public space – open to the exterior, planted with trees and diversified in its routes. The presence of the circumscribing wall around the plots, which "binds" and separates them from the circulation areas, reinforces the unity of the intervention and its integration into the surroundings. The architectural project of each of the dwelling units develops as a formal sequence of the preceding global conception, with the objective of lending rhythm to the volumes of the building.
The valuation of the internal volume and space of the houses combines with the reinterpretation of the traditional elements and building techniques.

Depending on the localisation, sights and solar orientation of the houses, different solutions of organisation of the interiors were made according to the metric study of a module.
