Lamellenhaus – The Colourful Louver House

The building interprets the “corporate identity” of its future users, presenting itself as an alternative to what was initially proposed for the site. Due to its prominent location, and thus carefully designed façade, the building became a symbol for the whole urban regeneration that was to take place in the surrounding area.

The different façades reflect the internal organization and flexible use of the building. The side redressed with brick is rather rigid and the side of the glass façade is an open space with a strong spatial flexibility. An interiorised service core constitutes a transitional element between the two sides. The rooftop is proposed as a large terrace that can be used by all its occupants.

The building is equipped with a mechanical heating and ventilation system with very low energy loss. The radial heating and cooling system in the floor, and the colourful louvers, which work as a second protective skin, thus guarantee a high thermal and atmospheric quality in the building.
